Surprise Part 2

First of all, sorry for my vanishing act. Honestly I thought about getting back to my "Surprise" story a number of times but was so "jam-packed" with work, my solo exhibition, i just couldn't get to it!! To know the details of the exhibition hop on to my art blog.. the link is on your right!! * directing finger * * wink *

Thinking about it now, I realized , it's better that I am updating all of this now and did not do it while in the middle of it. I have so much more to write about my experience.. now that it's over *sigh*..

So getting on with my "Saga"; Can I call it that???

I had already travelled 10,446 miles to New Delhi, India.. wasn't as tired as I was excited.. had another 156 miles to travel, the hardest one of them all, before I could surprise my family.. thoughts of the reactions I would get running around in my mind.. I just could not sleep well at night.. So thought may be I will take a nap in the train on my way to Chandigarh. Well, that was not the plan for me once I boarded the train...

I was lost in my own fantasy world when the train attendant came and offered the "Welcome Rose". One for me and one for the person sitting right next to me. He being a gentleman asked the attendant " to give it to the lady "... I could not help myself but smile.. and the air of awkwardness of talking to a stranger suddenly lifted and we started talking..

Newspaper, bottle of water, "THE TWO ROSES"

He being a free lance writer amused me and I, being an artist in spite of having a degree in dentistry, amused him. The conversations we had were quite interesting and how the time went by I did not notice..

Tea on train, PARLE- G biscuits.. yummm

Since, nobody knew of my arrival I asked a dear friend of mine to pick me up from the railway station..

I bid good bye to Mr. free lance writer and was set to take my journey ahead and surprise my family and friends... I was meeting my friend after such a long time we chatted all our way. planning on how to surprise the family.. Where to go first and whom to surprise???

We reached the parking are and parked our car.....

Whom did I surprise first?? what was the reaction?? Was it pleasant or Did I shock someone???
Stay tuned for more...

Book Review

My second book review for BBC 2012..

The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella

This has become one of my favorite reads.. being easy to understand, hillarious, potraying the life of a young attorney who makes a huge mistake bringing down the name of the firm she is working for and costing them millions of dollars. She runs away to the outskirts of London and feeling tired, exhausted stops by a house to ask for water and is mistaken for an interviewee for the housekeeper, going with the flow, she accepts the job with no clue as to how to cook or clean. Day by day she encounters how to deal with the house work, and starts to realise that she had been missing this part of life by working day in and day out, she also finds love during his stay as a house keeper and never felt better in her entire life.. Only to discover in the end that the mistake was planted and she had nothing to do with it, the firm also offers her partnership in the firm... to know what happened to her and did she take the position, went back to her old job.. Do read the book!!

Loved reading it.. though I did finish it two weeks ago, I did not have time to write the review...

You must be wondering what happened to the time machine by H. G Wells... It has been sitiing in my IPad. I am planning to finish it next month..

The Surprise!!

A big hello to everyone!!

Really sorry for not posting frequently enough or for that matter for about 20 days!! The reason is that I am in India.. It was a total surprise visit to my folks... The truth is even I had no idea, a week before the day of my departure, hubby came home and told me he had purchased my ticket to India.. It had been a long time almost more than a year since I had seen my family and he thought it was time I went to see them.. because of work he could not be with me here and any plans made later could be further delayed!! Felling elated.. I started packing and shopping and totally had a fun time before I left!!

The journey started with me having to consolidate my two bags as my purse was too big to be considered as "a purse". Unable to do that I had to call hubby to help me out..
My flight to Newark got delayed and my next flight was precisely 1 and a half hour later to the arrival time of this one.. as that was exactly the transfer time I had.. so that was a bummer.... But anyhow the flight people managed to land the flight half an early and I made my flight!! Beaming with joy and thoughts of how to surprise my family... the look on their faces.. the happiness, all the stuff I'll be doing there.. It was all very overwhelming.. but nevertheless.. I missed my hubby too.. talking to him about all my feelings... it was the first time after marriage that we had been apart for so long...

Well, I reached Delhi and all the memories of India came rushing back to me... My Aunt, the only one person I had taken in confidence and told about my visit came to pick me up.. It was an "Awwww" moment...

The rest of the story will be in the next post.. so stay tuned..for the surprise....
